At present, the German American Cultural Society has various festivals and events which are presented throughout the year. Our Oktoberfest features German music, cuisine and of course, German beer. The Weinlesefest celebrates the harvesting of grapes and the making of wine. Our Weihnachts Konzert/Christmas Party will put you in the holiday spirit with Stille Nacht, Es ist ein Ros Ensprungen and other classics of this time of year! Following that, in February we turn to the foolishness that marks beginning of the Fasching season in middle Germany presented by the Narren (clowns) of each city. We have our own Narren with a Fasching Tanz (Mardi Gras) where people dress up in costume for the occasion. Two Liederabende are presented by the men’s and the ladies’choruses during the year which feature a variety of German music from Volkslieder to classical. All during this time our choruses and Schuhplatter practice weekly, working towards the competitions and festivals that showcase their talent.
